Andrew has said that there were a lot of elements of ASM2 that were cut by the studio. Marc Webb had a planned trilogy but Sony didn’t give him complete creative control. Maybe it was their desire to expand the franchise due to the MCU’s success or maybe they didn’t think the deeper scenes would work commercially. There is a fine line between making good films and good comic book films. I thought that the Dark Knight and TDKR were great films but not good Batman films. There is a benefit to adding Spidey to the MCU. They will need a character with that weight to push the franchise forward as they lose Iron Man, Cap, and Thor, but I hope they don’t lose sight of what made Spider-Man the greatest comic book character of all time. He needs to be down-to-earth and introspective. People need to be able to relate to Peter (or Miles) and his supporting cast as much as they do Spidey. For this reason, I’ve always felt Spider-Man would work better as a TV show. Good luck, Marvel.

I just hope they let Garfield do it again. I know the last Spidey movie was not very good, but it never was his fault. I think he just looks so damn perfect in the Spidey suit and he acts like Spider-Man. I also know that his Parker is too cool for some fans, but I never thought Peter was meant to be ugly, Garfield makes him just be a loner type of guy that is not liked by the popular kids in school and I think that is totally fine.
And like I said, perfect as Spider-Man.
